There were bombings everywhere and we were always afraid of being arrested, we were also very afraid for our children that they would disappear, because of this and for other reasons we had to flee to Lebanon.”
Following two years between Lebanon, Egypt and Turkey, the Sukur family were granted a german visa through the Family Reception program.
Ten years after the uprising, they reflect on their new life in Germany, including how they learnt a new language, opened a restaurant and made new friends.
