Contentious negotiations over who will lead the German conservative ticket as nominee for Chancellor in September's national elections have been settled.
The center-right coalition of Christian Democrats (CDU) and Bavaria's Christian Socialists (CSU) has thrown its support behind CDU party leader Armin Laschet.
