El Salvador migrant seek American Dream
11m
Every day, between 200 and 300 Salvadorans say goodbye to their loved ones and head north to the United States. That’s according to the El Salvador Migrant Institute.
They leave without knowing if they will ever make it to their destination. Some get detained; some get discouraged and go back, while others lose their lives trying to cross the border. There aren’t official figures on how many Salvadorans “die” while migrating.
Correspondent Nitza Soledad Perez went to the Central American country and reports on the reasons behind this continuous migration flow.
