During the summer of this year, many countries experienced record-breaking heatwaves. Greece’s ancient city of Athens reaching 44 degrees Celsius (111 degrees Fahrenheit) in July. Homes were also destroyed in wildfires north of the city. Meanwhile a small town in Sicily, Italy hit 124 degrees — believed to be the hottest temperature ever recorded in Europe. ☀️
Determined to beat the heat, Greece decided to hire Europe’s first Chief Heat Officer – the second in the world. The Agenda’s Stephen Cole has been asking Eleni Myrivili her plans beat the heat. 🔥
