China is the country which has most recently been to the moon, the Chang e’5 probe returned to Earth with almost two kilos of rocks in December of 2020. But what does China plan to do with these samples?
“Study them and then share them with the global scientific community of course,” says Xu Yansong, the Director for International Cooperation at China’s National Space Administration.
These recent samples are two billion years younger than those collected by the former Soviet Union and the US so they will be key in new findings about the Moon’s volcanic activity and formation.
